Swallow Refurbishing Ltd was awarded the contract to build a new classroom extension for Bushmead School in Luton. A compound was formed at the main entrance for site storage, site office and welfare facilities. Access ways were formed between the site compound and the site area, which was fully fenced and screened off to give privacy between the occupied school and the site. The contract period was for 17 weeks, the contract was finished and handed over before the contract period ended.

Site enabling works were carried out within the first week of the contract, and the corridor strip out and dividing works were carried out over the following two weeks during the Easter term period, this enabled the school to function without any disturbance during the whole contract period. Consideration was given at all times regarding noise levels, deliveries, and access to the site.

The project provided a new wet classroom with a main access entrance and corridor leading to the playground area. An addition to the project was a new block paved area, replacing grass to the side of the extension.
The site was run continuously, and over seen by our site foreman, our tradesmen attended site at various stages as required, to enable the contract to complete within the contract period and to a high standard of workmanship.
